100 to watch – Directory of Contemporary Romanian Artists is launched today, October 20th in Berlin, at the Plan B Gallery. Besides the album you can check the online version.

Every single artist between these pages is part of the reason why Romania is such an exciting place to be right now. It’s indicative of just how much talent there is in the Romanian New Wave.”

Stephan Balleux: "In my work, I go through multiple stages before the final object, usually involving photography, virtual images, compositing and virtual collage. And what results appears as painting, drawing, watercolor, video, sculpture. It’s a practice that has its foundations in my desire to go beyond a pictorial practice, with a sole interest in painting. It’s also perfectly normal for me to use everything that passes within reach to produce images."
