KID606 aka Miguel Depedro, born 1979 in Venezuela and raised in California, dropped out of school and life to make music and run around the world bringing his uniquely reckless fucked up and beautiful music to our fucked up and beautiful world (one dance party at a time). Inspired by the best of electronica, punk, jungle, hiphop, Bass, dancehall and techno, kid606 fuses it all together with a love of pop culture that andy warhol would approve. Critically acclaimed releases (both legal and illegal) on ipecac, mille plateaux, fatcat, 555, his own tigerbeat6 label as well as remixes for artists as disparate as depeche mode, the locust, peaches, and super furry animals have painted a clear portrait of kid606 as a inspired, angry and iconoclastic artist more concerned with emotional content then popularity and unwilling to be pigeonholed in any vacant scene or soulless musical genre. Open your ears and shout along, or close your eyes and dance but always expect the unexpected.

AVion - the AVmotional series of events for professionals and AV addicts: AVmotional Platform undertook a challenge from the start: bringing together visual artists who love music and experimentation and electronic music performers who have a thingfor experiments and video, all on an uncensored playground. Keeping the freshness and effervescence of the interaction between representatives of different media is vital. So is the continuing experience exchange between Romanian and international artists, with its substantial influence over the contemporary AV and cross-media art scene. Thus, in time, a dynamic network of professionals will emerge and act in different zones of art and culture and will facilitate the accomplishment of new cross-media, interdisciplinary projects and long-term AV cooperation.
AVion - innovative, experimental & non-commercial: meetings and free discussions between professionals / screenings and AV Project presentations, Romanian or from abroad / networking & good vibe /AV leaders of the international scene, invited for workshops, presentations, live concerts.

animest 07 / 5-16 October / Bucharest
What is anim’est? Its aim is that of facilitating contact with artistic creations, with major animation schools all over the world, with imagination and experiment put into images, colour and sound. It is not a multimedia festival, it is not a display of what computers can do, it is a praise of art, imagination and skill.

'Weeble-ish animals and children populate Olivas' canvases. These overstuffed bunnies, boys and girls may have started out cute, but trussed up in muzzles and dunce caps, limbless in droopy-footed pajamas, mouths zipped or bolted shut, they are ultimately repulsive. The characters' utter repression - speechless and immobilized - does not manage to inspire sympathy. They are players in a nursery freak show engendering voyeuristic guilt, suggesting fetishism and a dangerous hint of abuse. The boys and girls' ineffectual victim hood raises the specter of sadomasochism, yet their weirdness leaves the viewer an out.'

"In our world, on the surface, we go about our daily lives breathing, thinking, sleeping, constantly moving, body mass fluctuating bigger, smaller, hair growing, eyes blinking. A never ending pattern of movement and growth. Every action whether conscious or unconscious is dictated by an emotion or desire. So much of what we do is hidden from the naked eye. When time is slowed down a different world and all of it's details emerges. A truer self, intentions, motivations and desires becomes more apparent. Subtle nuances become main events. A casual glance or aversion of one's eyes, for a fraction of a second, turns into a profound gesture suspended in time and brought forth to the consciously aware world. With my paintings I am attempting to show my subjects' inner intentions, emotions, and motivations. The paintings have an emotional dialogue with the painted subject and viewer stripped of the conscious and unconscious facades."

Barbie has become the accessory instead of being accessorized. Margaux Lange takes the pleasure in the contrast and contradiction of something mass-produced being transformed and revealed as a unique, handmade, wearable piece of art.
